DESCRIPTION

(Saturday 10AM-5:30PM): Acting for Sketch: Join Kevin McDonald of the Kids in the Hall for his ‘Acting in Sketch Comedy’ workshop. He will talk about acting goals and how to stay in character and how to care about the story while still being funny. He will show you famous comedy sketches so bring a laptop or a phone to watch things on as well as headphones. You will play comedy acting games and at the end of the day, he will direct you in new sketches he has written. He will also squeeze in some Kids in the Hall anecdotes!

(Sunday 10AM-5:30PM) Writing Sketch Through Improv: Learn how to write sketches through improvisation – just like the Kids in the Hall used to do. Kevin will talk about the secrets of writing comedy sketches (hopefully they’re secrets and not lies) and teach you the Kids in the Hall process of coming up with an idea and turning it into a sketch through improvisational rehearsal. You will be performing and writing with Kevin supervising, all weekend. All you have to bring is pen, paper and your bodies.

SUNDAY SHOWCASE October 28th: Students will get to perform with Kevin McDonald!
